I wrote lyrics for this track first because I wanted to tell this (fictional) story. Months later, at the end of February, I wrote the music to go with the lyrics and recorded a quick demo.

Later in 2022, I re-recorded it with better production.

Everybody knew 9th-grader Coy McCoy
He submitted homework written by "the Wiz"
The teachers let it slide cause his dad ran the biz

Between walls marked by ivies, in echoing halls
He would tell vile lies to get favour with the girls
Badmouthing his mates, if they stood in the way
He finished with Cum Laude but honour went astray

In a sea of gray cubicles, in hushed down tones,
Corporate politics is the realm of office drones
Experience in these arts shot him near the top
Stomping on colleagues, impossible to stop

Aiming for the pinnacle
Brazen and cynical
Another wolf has closed the lids
And Coy's career quickly hit the skids

Coy McCoy's devious ploy
Bringing you down brings him joy
Stand in his way, and he will destroy
Until the more powerful set the decoy

Sitting on the sidewalk
of the Main street bricks
Coy now scrapes a living
With cheap parlour tricks
